Quick Solution for Neck and Upper Back Tension and Pain

Posted on | May 22, 2008 | 4 Comments

Most of us are trapped in cubicles/offices/home offices/meetings/couches/ you get the idea. Inactivity settled into our lifestyles. We sit, sit, sit.

[What's wrong with sitting? It's comfy!]

Sitting is comfy, but not really.

[Huh?]

Humans are not designed to sit all day long. Inactivity is killing us and causing much discomfort.

[Like what?]

Neck and upper back pain and tension.

[Oh yeah... I have that...]

Forward head posture is a typical posture of someone who sits all day long. Since head is moved forward, neck and upper back muscles must compensate and work extra hard to maintain that position.

[Great.. I knew that I have neck and upper back pain and tension.. What can I do?! I have to sit... ]

If you can’t fire your boss and become a professional athlete, try the following exercise:

Arm Circles: Please watch the video for a instructions/explanation(Thank you Cynthia for demonstration, hope that your neck feels supah-fun-tastic!).

Do the exercise through out the day. It will keep your back and neck aligned and happy.

Beginner: 25 circles each way
Intermediate: 50 circles each way
Advanced: 100 circles each way

enjoy!
