High Volume Kettlebell Training. Are You Benefiting?

Kettlebell Training.. (blissfully closing my eyes in anticipation of ’something useful’)

Today is high volume kettlebell training day.

High volume work is a must for any kettlebell training program (read Proper Training Cycle for Optimal Results)

What is high volume kettlebell training?
High volume is a relative phenomenon that depends on your fitness level.

I would consider a set of twenty (20) or more repetitions a high volume set. Link such sets together and you got yourself (tada!) a high volume workout.

Start by recording your current training volume. Note number of sets, reps and the weight. Let that be your baseline. On your high volume day try to increase that number. Use a lighter weight, do more reps.

If you did 5×5 snatches with 16kg and followed that up with 4×4 snatches with 20kg then your total volume is 16kgx5(sets)x5(reps) + 20kgx4(sets)x4(reps) = 400kg + 320kg = 720kg

An example of a high volume workout would be a completion of snatches, 10 sets of 10 per side. 200 total snatches. If we did it with 16kg, total volume would be 3,200kg. A bit higher, no?

Why do high volume training?
Effective way to quickly build endurance, stamina, strength, and muscle.

It’s simply supah-fun-tastic…
